Hmong Baby Carrier

hmong in red brocade My newest style is the Hmong Baby Carrier.

It's similar in use to a Podegi. It is tied on with two straps and can be worn on the front or back.

Custom designs are available and I have access to a wide range of miao and hmong embroidered fabric for a traditional look.

About the Hmong Carrier

toddler being worn in a hmong

Traditional Hmong carriers are viewed as symbol of motherhood in the Hmong culture. Each new mother receives a baby carrier from her own mother when her child is born.

The Hmong women have a rich arts heritage and are known for producing beautiful flower designs and patterns inspired by the nature around them. Hmong sewing does not rely on written patterns but is learned by each new generation as they watch the elders sew.

This style of baby carrier would make a wonderful gift for any mother, full of beauty and meaning.
